DUBAI, 25th March, 2019 (WAM) -- The Islamic Affairs, Awqaf and Public Facilities Committee of the Federal National Council, FNC, discussed a draft law on regulating the country’s railways, which consists of 54 articles, during its meeting that was attended by government representatives.
Aisha Salem bin Samnoa, Chairman of the Committee, stated that the committee concluded its discussions on all articles of the draft law, in the presence of representatives of the Federal Transport Authority – Land and Maritime, FTA, while noting the law’s importance to organising and developing the federal railways, according to the best international standards and practices.
She also pointed out that the FTA’s representatives responded to the inquiries of the committee’s members, and reviewed the recommendations and suggestions of representatives of local authorities, which met with the committee to discuss their opinions on the draft law. These authorities include the Department of Transport in Abu Dhabi, the Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai and the Roads and Transport Authority in Sharjah, she added.
She further added that during the meeting, all sides reviewed the draft law and suggested amendments, which will be submitted to the committee in its next meeting while noting that the committee will present its final report on the draft law during that meeting, in preparation for submission to the FNC’s leadership for discussion.
